About Me

Me and the late Shiva

I hate peanut butter! There, I said it, and it’s true. I’ve never been able to stomach the stuff, and as a kid I was always “the difficult one” at play dates, Brownie meetings, birthday parties, or whatever activities kids did together in the 70’s. Bewildered moms and teachers were forever asking me with exasperation, “Well what DO you eat?!”.

“Just bread and butter please.” was always my reply.

And so in honor of my different (“difficult”?) self, I give you…Bread and Butter Studios! I may not be for everyone, but I am for me! Here you can find the real me through my creations: the playful quirky me, the multi-medium I-don’t-want-to pick-just-one me. All of the creations here are made by me just being myself, hoping to connect with all of you out there in your individual quirky worlds. I see you quiet book worms! I see you lover of ants farms and roly-polies! I see you passionate lovers of stray mutts and kitties! I see you closeted weirdos! I see you making up secret worlds, writing clever poems, composing delicious music. Time to come out and feel accepted and okay. Time for someone to “get” you. Come in. Explore. Ask questions. Play and enjoy! Welcome to my shop for you! I hope to keep experimenting, playing, discovering, and surprising myself with your support. Thanks for stopping in to visit!

*I will always love homemade bread and sweet cream butter.

Making of the Bee City Mosaic Mural

Mosaic Artist Karen Rycheck spent 18 months creating a mural to showcase Talent, Oregon’s status as a Bee City USA. The community art project engaged more than 100 volunteers to help create the stunning 32-foot mural that now graces the Betty Wheeler stage front at Talent City Hall.
